3. Dennis Rader
Known as the BTK Killer, which stands for “bind, torture, kill,” Dennis Rader is a notorious murderer who operated between 1974 and 1991. The man’s overconfidence and cockiness led to his eventual downfall in the end. He would taunt the media outlets and local authorities by sending them letters perfectly explaining his method of killing. Soon enough, the police finally caught up to him and captured him in 2005. A deleted file on a floppy disk sent by Dennis was extracted by the police and they were able to locate his church. Through DNA evidence, the authorities were able to apprehend him and he finally confessed to the killings in 2005. He was handed a life sentence in jail without a possibility of parole.
